This Privacy Policy describes how Blue Ledger: Surgical Case Log ("the App"), developed by Pocket Retina LLC, collects, uses, stores, and protects your information.
Blue Ledger is a surgical case logging and collaboration application designed to help physicians and trainees log, track, and organize surgical cases.
Information We Collect
Blue Ledger may collect information you provide directly when using the app, including:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Authentication credentials used to create and access your account
- Specialty
- Training level
- Degree
- Optional profile photo
The App may also collect and store user-generated professional content, including:
- Surgical case logs
- Case titles
- Case notes
- Procedure selections
- Operative role
- Hospital or site name
- Lead surgeon and surgical team selections
This information is collected solely to provide the core functionality of the application.
How We Use Your Information
Information collected in Blue Ledger is used only to:
- Create and manage your account
- Allow you to log, organize, and review surgical cases
- Enable collaboration and colleague-related features within the app
- Send activity notifications and case reminders
- Improve app functionality, reliability, and performance
Pocket Retina LLC does not sell or rent your personal information.
Analytics and Device Information
Blue Ledger may collect limited analytics and technical information to operate, improve, and monitor the app, such as:
- App screen views and feature usage
- Sign up and login events
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Push notification token
If you allow tracking permission on your device, Blue Ledger and its third-party partners may also use device-level identifiers and app interaction data to measure app installs, registration events, and the effectiveness of Meta advertising.
Blue Ledger does not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Data Storage
Information may be stored locally on your device and/or securely stored through the app’s backend infrastructure to allow synchronization and access to your data across sessions.
Account information, case logs, profile photos, notifications data, and related supported app content may be stored using secure cloud services that support the operation of Blue Ledger.
Case media attached to private case logs remains stored locally on your device. If you choose to publish a case to your portfolio, the media you include in that shared portfolio case may be uploaded to secure backend infrastructure so it can be displayed as part of that sharing feature.
Pocket Retina LLC takes reasonable measures to protect your information.
Third-Party Services
Blue Ledger uses third-party service providers to support essential app functions, including authentication, database storage, file storage, analytics, and notifications. These providers may process limited information necessary to operate the app.
These services may include Firebase and related Google Cloud infrastructure.
Medical and Professional Content
Blue Ledger is intended for professional case tracking and education. The App does not require or request patient identifiers such as patient names, medical record numbers, or dates of birth.
Users are responsible for ensuring that no patient-identifiable information or protected health information is entered into case titles, notes, or other free-text fields.
Notifications
Blue Ledger may send push notifications related to app activity and local reminder notifications related to upcoming cases. Users can manage notification preferences within the app and through their device settings.
Account Deletion
Users may request or initiate account deletion within the app. When an account is deleted, associated profile information, case logs, and stored profile images are removed from our systems within a reasonable time frame, subject to technical limitations and legal obligations.
Children's Privacy
Blue Ledger is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
